Three Sundays to discover the tastes of Firenzuola. The event is for the 12th, the 19th and the 26th of the month. This is the 13th edition of the event that puts on display tastes associated with the forest (which include chestnuts) and traditional craftsmanship made with grey sandstone. There has been a century's long tradition of stone-working that is tied to the presence in the Valley of a particular rock formation going back 15 million years.
During the three days of the exhibition, the historical centre of Firenzuola will host stands with displays of grey sandstone, a market with chestnuts, products from the woods, and stands with crafts. There will be laboratories to teach simple grey sandstone engraving and it will be possible to watch the city's stone-cutters demonstrate to the public the techniques of their trade.
The food stands will have chestnuts, potatoes, nuts, decorated pumpkins, apples, and berries that are not well known, like the jujube, as well as candles and beekeeping products. There will also be cheeses, cold cuts, bread, focaccias and desserts made with chestnut flour.
During the exhibition it will be possible to go on trekking adventures and to collect chestnuts in a forest that belongs to an agricultural farm. For the occasion, the Museum of grey sandstone in Firenzuola will be open to the public on Sunday with the following hours: 10 – 13, 15 – 19.
