From the sea to the hills to tell about Tuscany

A live painting, out in the open, immediate and spontaneous that progressively takes shape and descends to the profound, communicating not only images but also the sensations felt by the painter. This is the artistic expression of Antonio Franceschetti: there are spaces left on the canvas along with plays of light and the atmosphere of that particular moment. Paintings that tell of Tuscany through its landscapes and its colours rendered with refined chromatic shades. “Landscapes, but especially views, says Franceschetti, to highlight the foregrounds and the typical Tuscan architectural elements: the farmhouses, loggias, staircases, gates.
Along with this, I am fascinated by the sea and water scenes, like the views of the lake at Massaciuccoli”.

When was your fashion for painting born?

“I have always been passionate about it. When I was small I lived in Livorno and I would stop to watch the painters who drew the canals and the sea. In
middle school I was sent back in drawing and during the summer I took lessons and began to paint with a certain constancy. The decisive step was at twenty-five with Grazia Gargani, a painter who spent a long time in South America . The passion didn’t abandon me, but my work in the bank took up most of my time and painting remained a dream in a box for many years.”

When did you reopen the box?

“On the threshold of sixty years I had a strong inspiration, a turning point; new stimuli that took me back to my nature.”

Your next engagements?
“An expedition to the Isle of Elba and along the Tyrrhenic coast for sea and land views.”
