The highly anticipated Boccaccesca event will take place along the roads of the old part of Certaldo.
This year, to celebrate its tenth anniversary, there will be a calendar full of activities on the weekends of the 3rd through the 5th and the 10th through the 12th of October. There will be food stands, tastings, cooking lessons and activities for children.
The festival organized by the Certaldo Consortium 2000, in partnership with the Municipality of Certaldo, the Province of Florence and the Tuscan Region, brings together the best tastes and traditions.
'Masters on show', will take place throughout the Boccaccesca. Craftsmen from every corner of Tuscany will practice their trade along the medieval streets of the city. On Saturday the 11th of October at 4pm, there will be a Chichibio prize competition.
Students from hotel schools throughout Italy will compete in a cook-off. They will use regional products and Certaldo onions. On the 10th of October at 6.30 p.m. the Boccaccesca Prize - Tuscan Culture in the World, will be awarded to an individual who has represented Tuscan values outside Italy's borders. Last year, the prize was awarded to Marcello Lippi, the coach of the Italian football club that won the World Cup.
The cost of entry is 5 Euros (there is a 3 Euro reduced fare). The Boccaccesca is free for children under 12 years of age.
